My favorite thing about wedding planning thus far has been shopping for my wedding dress! It is such an exciting time and full of so many memories, it’s really something you will never forget. But it can also be a very stressful time! In order to try to help you have the BEST wedding dress shopping experience, I wanted to share with y’all 6 tips for picking out your dream wedding dress.

6 Tips For Picking The Perfect Wedding Dress

1. FIND THE PERFECT BRIDAL SHOP

When I walked into Gown Boutique of Charleston, I knew I found THE place! Everything about this bridal boutique was perfect. From the incredibly kind and helpful gals to the décor, I honestly couldn’t have wished for anything better. When you are searching for a bridal shop, make sure you find somewhere that you feel comfortable! One of the many fabulous things about the Gown Boutique of Charleston is that they are appointment only! This means, you are the onlycustomer in the shop!! It’s honestly amazing! My final tip for picking your bridal shops, which may not be super important, is to make sure they have great lighting! This will help somuch when you are looking back at photos from your appointment! 

2. BE OPEN MINDED

Whether you already know the style of dress you want, or you have no idea, make sure you go into your appointment with an open mind! You may be surprised at the styles you actually like! Stella York has a variety of gorgeous dresses, and really have something for everyone! I went into my appointment thinking I didn’t even want to try on any form fitting dresses, but I’m so glad that the ladies at the shop insisted! We tried on five very different dresses, and I can honestly say I loved each and every one of them. You really won’t know which style wedding dress you want until you give them all a chance!

3. KEEP YOUR BUDGET IN MIND

Sticking to your budget is important when it comes to wedding planning, and that includes picking out your wedding dress! Let the ladies at the shop know your budget. That way they will only show you dresses that fall within your budget and will prevent you from falling in love with a dress that is too expensive. 4. WEAR MAKEUP AND DO YOUR HAIR

You don’t have to go and get your hair and makeup done before your appointment, but I highly suggest doing it yourself. When you look good, you feel good! Have you ever gone shopping and tried stuff on when you don’t look your best?!Nine times out of ten you probably don’t purchase that item. You want to feelyour best when trying on wedding dresses!

5. GO WITH YOUR GUT

If I could only give you one piece of advice when picking out the perfect wedding dress, it would be do go with your gut!! Yes, I want you to be open minded and try on a variety of dresses, but if you are stuck on one style make sure to really focus on it! I have heard so many times that girls have ended up purchasing the first dress that they tried on! If your gut is telling you that you have found the dress, don’t second guess it!

6. BRING A SMALL GROUP OF GALS

Last but not least, bring a small group of your best gals to your appointment with you! It could be your mom, your maid of honor, a bridesmaid, or all of the above. It is such an exciting time, and so fun to share with the people you love! These ladies will be so excited and honored to be involved in this special moment! I would keep the group small and intimate though. You don’t want to get overwhelmed, and also want to keep your dress a surprise for some people!
