Well here we are, I've come back to the blogging world after being MIA to bring you my next Wedding Wednesday post! I am so excited to share with you my save the dates, because well I love them, and I wanted to give y'all some advice that I was given prior to creating them!
The Do's and Don's of Save-The-Dates
DO: Send them 6-8 months out
You want to be sure to give your guests enough time to plan! 6-8 months is the perfect time to send your save the dates, because you don't want to send them too far in advance, but you also want to give your guests enough time to plan! If you are having a destination wedding, I would send them closer to 8 months out!
DON’T: Send them to everyone
Once your save the dates are in the mail there is no turning back! So make sure you are only inviting the people that you for sure want at your wedding! You can't really bank on people not showing up, so if you have a "b list," I would wait until after you send out your actual wedding invitations or get confirmed no's from people before you send any others out!
DO: Have fun with the design
I had so much fun designing my perfect save the date with Basic Invite! They have so many options y'all, it's incredible! They have almost unlimited colors, over 1000 wedding invitation sets, and you even have the ability to order a printed sample of your save the date so that you can see exactly how it will print, as well as the paper quality before you place your order!
DON’T: Feel the need to be super formal
Some people may not agree with this, but for me, I'm saving the formalities for the actual invitation. That's not to say that you can absolutely be as formal as you want on yours, I just chose not to! I chose to address the envelopes with first and last names (using Basic Invite's free address collection service) and had them printed on the envelopes!
DO: Include your wedding website
You want to keep save the dates simple, so include your wedding website where your guests can find all of the important information (location, time, etc). You should also include any additional information on your site like guest accommodations, travel plans, and registry information.
DON'T: List registry information
That's what the website is for! It's considered bad taste to include your registry info on the invite. Gifts aren't required after all! Like I said above, just include it on your website and you're golden!
I'm sure there are many more dos and don't of save the dates, but these are the ones that I could most helpful! Do y'all like my Wedding Wednesday posts?! The wedding planning process has been so much fun, and I can't wait to share everything with you! What are you hoping to see?!
Thank so much for reading! xo
Thank you to Basic Invite for sponsoring this post! All opinions are my own.

ReplyDeleteYour save the date cards are just adorable! I imagine it must be a lot of pressure to have your guest list nailed down eight months before the wedding!
