We had a little taste of fall weather Monday morning, and it has really got me craving cooler temperatures! When you live in Charleston, unfortunately October doesn't automatically mean boots and sweaters. We still have a couple weeks (if not months) until sweater weather, so until then I'm just going to have to pretend by being strategic with my outfits!
How To Transition Your Wardrobe To Fall When It's Still Hot Outside
Fall is my favorite season and that is partially because of the fashion, so obviously I'm already planning on transitioning my wardrobe! I'm a huge fan of sweaters, boots, leggings, scarves.. you name it! But since that's not in the cards for us Charleston folk, I'm here to share 3 tips on how to transition your wardrobe to fall when its still hot outside!Mix Seasons
My number one tip would be to mix seasons! What I mean by this is to take an item from each of your seasons (or if you're like me, from each of your closets- I have a spring/summer closet and a fall/winter closet) and pair them together! This could mean a summery top with a pair of jeans and booties, or a summer dress paired with a cardigan, light jacket, or a scarf. It's All In The Shoes
The one thing that will 100% transition your outfit is the shoes! If you throw on a pair of booties, or even a pair of boots, with your outfit, it will instantly scream fall! Open toed booties are also a great option! You still get the fall feel, feel a little better about wearing them in the heat!
See how I paired a spring dress with a jacket and boots here.
Add Plaid
My last tip is to add plaid. That's it! You would be amazed at how adding plaid scarf to a simple summer dress instantly transitions the look! There is just something about plaid that scrams fall, don't you agree?! It's such a popular that you have so many items to choose from - scarves, tops, dresses, skirts, hats.. The list is endless!
