7 Tips For Looking Better in Photos

8 Tips For Looking Better In Photos - Chasing Cinderella

I do not consider myself to be a very photogenic person. Hence, why you basically never see me posting a selfie. I bet you're thinking, umm you're a blogger, of course you're photogenic.. This is definitely not the case y'all. For every one photo you see, there are 50 that will NEVER see the light of day lol. But, from my time blogging, I have learned a few tricks that help you look better in photos!

7 Tips For Looking Better In Photos

Taking better photos is all relative! You always think you look worse in photos than you actually do. This post should really be titled How To Like What You Look Like In Photos. I am in NO way an expert, I actually think I need a ton of help posing.. but these are some tips that I think will help you feel more comfortable in front of the camera, and in turn, look better in the photos!

1. Practice
The only way you're going to get better at something, is by practicing! The more photos you take, the more comfortable you will feel in front of the camera! Taking photos, especially in public, is always awkward, so the more you practice, the quicker you'll be able to get a shoot done!

2. Move Around
Do not stand in one place. Try walking, twirling, or hey, event jumping! When I'm taking a stationary photo, I'm swaying my hips, reposting my feet, moving my head into different positions. This will help you get different angles and shots.

3. Change Up Your Positions
Don't stick with the same position, switch it up! Face the camera straight on, stand sideways, sit down... the possibilities are endless! You'll eventually find a few go-to positions that you love, and you won't have to stress out about posing (like I do).

4. Use Props
I feel the most awkward in photos when I don't have anything in my hands. What do I do with my hands?! haha but seriously, when in doubt, use a prop!

5. Don’t Stick With Just A Smile
Switch up your face a bit! That sounds silly, but don't always go with a smile! Try a closed mouth smile, a laugh, a kissy face, a serious face. You never know what could be your next go-to look!

6. Highlight The Features You Like
If you've got it, flaunt it! If you want to have the best photo, highlight your favorite features! Whether it be your smile, your legs, your eyes.. If your favorite asset is front and center, you're going to be more likely to like the photo!

7. Talk To Your Photographer
If you don't like an angle, change it! Tell your photographer what you like and don't like, any ideas you have for photos, angles, etc. Be open and have a conversation of what you're exactly looking for!

These may be super simple, no-brainer tips, but they have really helped me look better (in my opinion) in my photos! Taking photos is aways always awkward and uncomfortable, so it's nice to have a few easy go-to tips to help you feel more comfortable and to insure you get the shot you're going for!

Thanks so much for reading! xo
