24-Hour Guide to Georgetown, SC

Georgetown, SC Travel Guide | Chasing Cinderella

One of the many great things about Charleston is that there are a ton of vacation spots only a short drive away! We hopped in the car the other weekend and took a short hour-ish drive up to Georgetown, SC for a quick overnight trip.

24-Hour Guide to Georgetown, South Carolina

Georgetown, South Carolina is an almost 300 year-old coastal town filled with character and charm. It is full of history and personality, and is the third oldest city in the state! If you're looking for fun things to do with the family, or just looking for a fun day of eating and shopping with your girlfriends, Georgetown is a must-see!

Disclaimer: You can definitely see Georgetown in a day. But, if you are someone that likes to take their time and see everything, I recommend booking at least two nights wherever you stay.

620 Prince, Georgetown, SC | Chasing Cinderella

3:00 PM - Check In

Within this quant little town, there are a few bed and breakfasts and hotels to choose from. We had the opportunity to stay at the beautiful 620 Prince, a fully restored 1800's house situated in the heart of Georgetown! It is absolutely stunning and the interior is decorated beautifully!

We spent a little time unpacking, snapping some pictures and touring the grounds!

4:00 PM - Shopping Time

Georgetown is home to a ton of cute little shops! There is something for everyone: clothing boutiques, gift shops, coffee shops, children stores, book stores, you name it! You could definitely spend an afternoon going in each shop, checking out the antique shops or walking through the galleries!

We had to stop in Sully & Bay! Y'all know I love a good clothing boutique, and this one was right up my alley! It was so fun to just walk down the street and peak into the different shops along the way! Don't forget to grab some coffee at Coffee Break Cafe while you're down there!

6:30 PM - Grab Some Dinner

There are a good amount of restaurants to choose from, so you definitely have some options depending on what you're in the mood for! We ate at River Room (which seemed to be the popular choice), but we got a ton of recommendations that I thought I would share:

River Room - 801 Front Street
Casual Waterfront dining with great food and an extensive wine list.

Old Fish House "Big Tuna Raw Bar" - 807 Front Street
A favorite among locals for casual dining and drinking. The fish is always fresh and the view is
one of the best in town.

Harborside Seafood & Italian - 815 Front Street
A family friendly restaurant with beautiful views of the river and excellent food!

Alfresco Georgetown Bistro - 812 Front Street
Classic Italian flavors with the freshest of South Carolina ingredients.

Atlantic House - 109 Screven Street
Serving fresh local seafood and fresh salads and sandwiches. Beer and Wine available along with
house made desserts and ice cream.

8:00 PM - After Dinner Fun

Late night fun is different for everyone! Whether it be getting some ice cream from Old Georgetown Creamery and taking a sunset stroll along the Harborwalk (this is what we opted for), or grabbing some drinks at Buzz's Roost and dancing the night away.. There is fun to be had in Georgetown after dark!

9:00 AM - Breakfast and Check Out

We grabbed a quick breakfast at our B&B 620 Prince, and I would assume that the place you stay serves breakfast as well. If not, there are a few coffee shops along Front street that you could easily grab breakfast and a coffee! You will be familiar with this street if you spend the day prior shopping and exploring!

11:30 AM - Visit a Museum

I mentioned before that Georgetown was a very historic city, and I wasn't just saying that! It is home to six incredible museums that are open to the public. We didn't visit any museum's when we were there, but I have them listed below in what seemed to be the order of popularity:
      Kaminski House
      Rice Museum
      Gullah Museum
