World Trade Memorial & Observatory

World Trade Memorial & Observatory

Back when I was planning our trip to NYC, the number one place I wanted to visit was the 9/11 memorial and the One World Observatory.  I remember when everything happened that day- I was in 5th grade and remember parents coming into school picking their kids up early. It was very confusing at first, but then our teacher wheeled a TV into the classroom and we were able to watch the news. I know I was young and didn't completely understand what was happening, but to see adults crying that hard was an emotional time. Finally my mom came and picked my sister and I up and explained to us what had happened.

We first headed to the 9/11 memorial where we spent some time walking around both of the pools. There were flowers stuck in names all throughout the memorial, which hit me hard thinking about all of the people that were lost, and how much their families must miss them!

We did not have time this trip to visit the 9/11 museum, but it is definitely on the list for our next visit. I've heard amazing things about it!

From the memorial, we walked over to the One World Observatory. If you are making a trip to the city, I highly recommend that you visit the observatory! As expected, as soon as we made it inside the observatory, my emotions go the best of me. I don't want to give anything away, but it was such an emotional experience and the attention to detail that was put into it was incredible! Everything from the elevator ride, to your very first view of the skyline, was, for lack of a better word, amazing!

It was a little foggy when we visited the observatory, but it did not take away from the enchanting 360-degree view of the city. There truly is no better way to see New York than to see it from the top of such an incredible building. We also visited Top of the Rock (which was amazing), but if I had to pick one to visit, I would definitely choose the One World Observatory!

Thanks so much for reading! xo
